Products Of New York. #Pony #LetsGetInOn #Philippines #Rothco

Last Friday, the folks at Pony Philippines invited me to a product shoot to launch their newest back to school collection. They asked me to go to a small Filipino restaurant to meet.

Wait, a restaurant for a shoot? I imagined I was going to see some shoes set-up on some tables and what not. Little did I know that there was a back door leading to a photo studio. Oh you know these kinds of places are up to no good. #BusinessInFrontPartyInTheBack

I was not ready for what I was about to see.

Wait, am I in the right place?! What the heck is Alodi… Paulene So doing here?! Not that I’m complaining. Guess, that’s just Pony being Pony.

As I gathered myself, I was greeted by Steph Calderon and Donna Santos, marketing manager for Pony Philippines. We talked a bit about the history and the New York roots of the brand. Pony is the FIRST AMERICAN sneaker brand founded in Brooklyn, New York and during the early years has made a dent in athletics with brand endorsers Pele, Bob McAdoo, Spud Webb, Daryll Dawkins and Muhammad Ali. Later on they caught the street wear bug and offered lifestyle and apparel (like the Snoop Dogg Doggy Biscuitz) as an alternative option for those who don’t and won’t try to fit in. During our conversation, Donna explained Pony represents a certain attitude and way of life that is beyond what’s on feet. Pony IS an attitude. A distinct creative personality like Bamboo, upcoming talent with spunk Joyce Pring or covert rock chick Glaiza de Castro and few more upcoming bands are former and current endorsers of the brand. Pony is looking to sneak up on the market with these still surging talents.

Here are a few snaps on what’s available in the coming months in time for the next school term.

PEG. Shaky hands! LOL

Gotta find out the story of these. Lovin’ the quality here.

Hessian/canvas in a classic silhouette. Raw.

They’re reaching in the vault and re-releasing some like these.

This style has a gum sole version for those who prefer a darker color blocking.

Nice quality on these. Check them out in person.

Vault style pair that covered a couple of “vaults” during the shoot. LOL.

Some newer silhouettes on release!

Note: Swimsuits not included.

Upper material and build is really nice with high build quality.

Tiffany-esque in person.

These are butter in time for summer. I want one!

Hidden in a separate black duffle bag, this pair caught my eye as being something unusual of the Pony design line. It’s a collab project between Rothco, a military clothing brand born out of the sweat and hustle of a distinct gentleman, also with New York roots and Pony. A quick Google search revealed an amazing story behind this collaboration for a capsule collection.

THAT jacket.

Fancy these? It will be available in limited pairs. I’ll post info on where to get them once available.

It was another learning experience finding out about this brand’s identity and it’s deep New York roots. I love seeing inter-industry brands and companies share ideas and collaborate to create new and exciting products. Pony is looking to kicking some with these! Thank you Pony Philippines! I appreciate the love! Until the next BICOLOG! LOL.
